Wat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang. Laos

"Tree of life" - an impressive mosaic on sim's wall is famous feature of Wat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang.

The temple was built in 1560 by king Setthathirat with a direct entrance from Mekong river.

The golden building on the temple compound is called "Royal Funerary Carriage House".

Gilt panels on the front wall show episodes from Ramayana epic.

Many visiters of Xieng Thong are convinced that majestic house is the temple's main structure.

But truly speaking Red Chapel with rare reclining Buddha is the higlight.

Red Chapel with tepastries and gold leaf upper walls is packed with some seated bronze Buddhas.


Reclining Buddha is dated from 16th century.



Gold designs on the interior walls of sim depict scenes from tales about King Chanthaphanit.
