The world downturn has hit badly the most influential Malaysian Chinese businessman. According to Forbes Robert Kuok's asset is estimated to be around $7 billion. Almost 3 billion less than in 2008. Anyway shy businessman born in 1923 is still the richest in the region. He officially retired and moved to Hong Kong.
Kuok was born in Johor Bahru. His father arrived in Malaya from China. Today his family owns properties in many Asian countries and Australia. One of the most famous Kuok's real estate is Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.
