I entered Myanmar at the Mae Sai border post. One day visa for Tachilek costs $5.
Foreigners are allowed to stay one day in Tatchileik or travel to Kengtung ( some 100 km away ) with 14 days visa issued on the border.
Tatchileik 's existance depends on border trade with Thailand.
Mostly goods you can find in the streets here are also available in Mae Sai.
Thai baht is local hard currency. It is waste of time and energy to change cash into Burmese Kyats.
Local beer can be more expensive here than in Yangon.
Tourist market is flooded in thousands kitsch and fake antiques. But lucky person can find sometimes genuine Shan clothing.
