Chaungtha Beach is located on Bay of Bengal in Ayeyarwady Division. The resort town opened for foreigners 10 years ago is five houre drive from Yangon.
Mostly visitors come here during dry season. During monsoon time and in October and November water is muddy and dry seaweed covered beige beach sand.
Chaunghtha Beach is inhabited by fishermen and Burmese employees working in local tourist industry.
There are more than 20 hotels and geusthouses. One of the best is Golden Beach Hotel.
